ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. What is SBAWE32 Control Panel? ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
SBAWE32 Control Panel is a tool to control your AWE32 MIDI hardware. The
control panel lets you
1. Apply effects to the MIDI sound
2. Change the Synthesizer Emulation
3. Load custom SoundFont files into the 128 banks
4. Upload wave files to be used as instrument samples
5. Review loaded intrument samples using the virtual keyboard
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. SBAWE32 Control Panel Interface ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The control panel interface uses the page tabbed dialog metaphor to conserve
desktop space. The concept is quite similar to the the standard OS/2 notebook
interface. Each page in the tabbed dialog can be accessed by clicking on its
tab, which is displayed at the top of the dialog. The tab also displays a text
describing the page it activates.
The SBAWE32 Control Panel tabbed dialog has five pages, Effects, Synth Bank,
User Bank, WaveFx and Playback.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Effects Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The effects page lets you select the default effects to apply to the MIDI
sound. SBAWE32 supports multiple effects where each effect is identified by an
effect type, Reverb & Chorus. Each effect type can have multiple effect sub
types which are referred to as effect variations. Each effect variation can be
further adjusted to a custom value.
Reverb & Chorus effect type has the following variations
Reverb
Chorus
Treble
Bass
Each of this effect variation can be configured to a value which programs the
variation specifc parameter. For example the variation Reverb can be
configured to any of the following eight values:
Room 1
Room 2
Room 3
Hall 1
Hall 2
Plate
Delay
Panning Delay
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. Synth Bank Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The synth bank page lets you set the synth bank emulation to one of the four
modes. These are
General MIDI
GS
MT 32
User Synth
Each of this mode has a SoundFont file attached to it. When a new mode is
selected and applied, the attached SoundFont file is loaded and the synth
emulation is changed.
Default SoundFont files are supplied that provide the emulation for all the
four modes, but these can be changed to use custom SoundFont files through the
control panel.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3. User Bank Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
User Bank page allows you to load SoundFont files into one of the 127 user
banks in AWE32. Each of these banks can have a different or same SoundFont file
and when a MIDI bank switch message is received the appropriate bank is
selected and instruments from the new bank played.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.4. WaveFx Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
WaveFx page lets you load wave files for specfic instruments. Once a wave file
is loaded for an instrument, the wave file is played back as the instrument
sample.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.5. Playback Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Playback page lets you review the loaded SoundFonts and wave files. The virtual
keyboard provided can be used to play different notes.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.6. Refresh Buttons ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The two refresh buttons, Refresh All and Refresh This can be used to force the
control panel to display the current hardware settings.
Refresh All refreshes all the five tabbed book pages while Refresh This
refreshes only the current page.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.7. Apply Button ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Apply button applies the current control panel setting for the active page
to the hardware.
